They are accomplished players and experienced in helping others succeed. They are here to help you improve and enjoy the game.
Phil Truono, PGA
Phil Truono has over twenty years teaching experience and is recognized as one of the top instructors in the country. Awards include 2016 New England PGA Teacher of the Year and Golf Digest Best Teachers in State. He is a dedicated coach focused on helping golfers achieve results and enjoy the game. Early in his career Phil worked with three of the top ten ranked instructors in the country and the top ranked golf school in the country.
Phil has experience teaching beginners to world class players. He has given over 20,000 private lessons and over 600 group clinics to adult and junior golfers. Some of his former students include a New York State Open Champion, US Women's Senior Amateur Champion, LPGA Tour Winner, former British Senior Open Winner, Collegiate Conference Champion and countless beginners. He also serves as the Director of Golf for Miacomet Golf Club. He has over 100 hours of Golf Fitness continuing education and has been TPI certified for over 10 years.
His playing career includes four years of Division 1 Collegiate Golf at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Phil continues to compete and has several victories in the NEPGA Section. His low tournament round score is 65.
He is a former Master Instructor at the Jim McLean Golf Schools, and former Nicklaus/Flick certified instructor. He worked as an Assistant/Teaching Professional at many clubs including Aronimink Golf Club, Boca Rio Golf Club, Fresh Meadow Country Club, and Weston Hills Country Club.
Tracy Mount, PGA
A Certified PGA Member and TPI Golf Fitness Instructor, Tracy Mount, earned an honors degree in economics while successfully competing on the men's golf team at the University of Cincinnati. A PGA Member since 2004, Tracy has a diverse work history that has focused on golf instruction, golf travel, and fitness.
He worked at The Onwentsia Club in Lake Forest, IL, and at Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville, NJ as a PGA Teaching Professional. During 2006-2007, he served as a certified golf club fitting expert for Titleist in California, Arizona and the northeastern United States. In 2010, Tracy was selected to join the PGA Magazine Ambassador program to contribute articles on golf instruction and international golf travel. Most recently, he was named the Cape Cod Chapter PGA Teacher of the Year in 2012 for his work as a PGA Teaching Professional for the Nantucket Golf Academy on Nantucket, MA.
The better part of the last decade has found Meghan on a number of pristine golf courses across the country. She has been a Teaching Professional for eight years at Miacomet Golf Club on Nantucket island, and for five years at the world renowned John Webster Teaching Academy at The Breakers in Palm Beach, FL. Meghan's experience also includes working at TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN and at Harmony Golf Preserve in Orlando, FL. Meghan is a certified U.S. Kids Instructor, a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance, PGA apprentice and TPI Certified.
Meghan has had the opportunity to work with players of all ages and skill levels, including juniors as young as three and PGA/LPGA tour players. She has played an instrumental role in developing Junior Programs in both Florida and Nantucket during her time as an instructor. Meghan brings her focus and passion to both individual lessons and group instruction. As a result, she has the ability to develop and hone the performance of all of her students.
Golf has always played a significant role in Meghan's life. Her extensive career included playing and competing in local, regional and national events starting at age 5. This ultimately led her to a four year scholarship playing Division 1 collegiate golf at the University of Memphis, where she helped lead her team to a Conference USA Championship. Meghan then went on to play professionally for two years on the Ladies Mini Tours.
Meghan is dedicated to furthering her education, in order to remain current in her field strategies. Her enthusiasm, positive attitude and love of teaching come together to provide an exceptional golf experience.
Bryce Huntt, PGA, Director of Golf, Golf Shop Supervisor
Bryce is joining Miacomet for
his fifth season and has taken over the roles of Director of Golf and Golf Shop
Supervisor after serving as Head Golf Professional in 2018 and Assistant Golf
Professional during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
He grew up just outside the
Boston area in Natick, MA and holds degrees in both Professional Golf
Management and Finance from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Bryce will be working closely
with our Director of Outside Services and Professional staff to ensure that
daily operations run smoothly during the new clubhouse transitional period.
Bryce has made it a priority to be available and open to any suggestions and
will continue to address questions and concerns to help make Miacomet Golf Course a first-class destination for both members and guests.
Kyle Shafer, Head Golf Professional & Tournament Coordinator
Kyle recently graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in Professional Golf Management. Over the past 6 years, he has spent time at several different clubs up and down the East Coast. Most recently, he worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at The Old Edwards Club in Highlands, North Carolina and Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida. He is excited for the wealth of opportunities and learning experiences Miacomet will bring during his first ever season on Nantucket!
Bram Daly, First Assistant Golf Professional
Bram is a graduate of Elon University, majoring in Exercise Science while minoring in Psychology. He is a TPI Certified Expert in Level 3 Golf, Level 3 Junior and Level 2 Fitness. He is currently a PGA Associate. Bram grew up as a local, attending the Nantucket Public School system. He has worked as a Golf Professional at Miacomet since 2018. Bram has played in many golf tournaments as an Amateur around the New England section. In 2017, Bram shot his lowest round in tournament play with a 66 to help capture Low Amateur in the Cape Cod Open. He now competes as a professional. Bram started working at Miacomet as an Assistant Junior Instructor in 2011. He works as an Assistant Golf Professional during the winters at McArthur Golf Club in Florida. Bram also works closely with the Nantucket High School Golf Team.
